🕯️ Faith
Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck and faith trusts this truth

Faith trusts that unanswered desires may be blessings in disguise.

Have you ever felt that heavy, sinking sensation in your chest when a door closes right in your face? It is such a difficult feeling to navigate, that sense of loss when a dream slips through your fingers or a plan falls apart. The Dalai Lama offers us such a beautiful perspective here, suggesting that these moments of disappointment might actually be hidden blessings. It asks us to consider that not getting what we want isn't just a setback, but perhaps a redirection toward something much better suited for our souls. It takes a profound amount of faith to look at a closed door and smile, trusting that the universe has a much larger map for us than the one we have drawn for ourselves.

In our daily lives, we tend to fixate so tightly on our specific goals that we develop tunnel vision. We think the promotion, the specific relationship, or the exact outcome is the only way to find happiness. When those things don't manifest, we feel like we have failed. But if we step back, we can start to see the patterns of how other 'failures' eventually led to unexpected joys. Life has a funny way of protecting us from paths that might have looked good on paper but would have ultimately led us away from our true peace.

I remember a time when I was working so hard on a specific project, pouring every ounce of my energy into making it perfect. When it was ultimately rejected, I felt completely heartbroken and defeated. I spent days wondering what I had done wrong. But a few months later, that very emptiness allowed me the space to discover a new passion that has brought me more fulfillment than the original project ever could have. It was like the universe was gently nudging me away from a narrow path and toward a wide, beautiful meadow I hadn't even noticed.

It is okay to feel the sting of disappointment, but please try not to stay there too long. When things don't go your way, take a deep breath and try to lean into that sense of trust. Instead of asking why this happened to you, try asking what this new space might allow you to embrace. There is so much magic waiting in the detours of our lives.

Tonight, as you settle in, I invite you to look back at one thing that didn't go your way in the past. Can you see now, with the benefit of hindsight, how that moment might have actually been a stroke of luck for you?
