🌟 Wonder
Wisdom begins in wonder and wonder never ceases for the truly curious mind

The wondering mind is the beginning of all wisdom.

There is something quietly magical about the moment a question forms in your mind before you even have the words for it. That gentle tug of curiosity, that soft whisper of "but why?" or "what if?" — it is not a sign of ignorance. According to Socrates, it is the very beginning of wisdom. Wonder is not a childish thing to grow out of. It is the seed from which all meaningful understanding grows.

We live in a world that rewards answers. We are praised for knowing things, for being confident, for having the solution ready before anyone finishes asking the question. But Socrates gently turns that idea on its head. He suggests that the person who keeps asking, who keeps marveling, who refuses to assume they have seen everything there is to see — that person is the one truly growing. Wisdom does not come from accumulating facts. It comes from staying open, staying curious, staying a little bit in awe of how much there is still to discover.

BibiDuck thinks about this often on quiet mornings by the pond. There is always something new to notice — the way light bends through water, the sound a leaf makes when it finally lets go of a branch. It would be easy to walk past these things a thousand times and stop seeing them. But wonder keeps the eyes fresh. It keeps the heart soft. A truly curious mind does not just look at the world — it leans into it, eager and unhurried.

Imagine someone who has worked in the same field for twenty years. They could easily coast on what they already know. But instead, they pick up a book outside their expertise, ask a colleague a question they feel embarrassed not knowing the answer to, or sit with a problem longer than necessary just because it fascinates them. That person does not just become more knowledgeable — they become more alive. Wonder has a way of doing that. It keeps us present, humble, and endlessly engaged with the world around us.

So here is a gentle nudge from this little duck to you: let yourself wonder today. Ask the question you have been holding back. Look at something familiar as though you are seeing it for the very first time. You do not need to have all the answers to be wise — you just need to keep caring enough to ask. Wisdom is not a destination you arrive at. It is a way of moving through the world, with curiosity as your compass and wonder as your constant, faithful companion.
